Why the name Yoga Hathi?
Hathi is the Indian word for elephant. Besides, Colonel Hathi from Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book (1894), on which Disney based the animation film (1967) with the same name, is a funny ‘famous’ Hathi.
From my early childhood I’ve been a ‘fan’ of Ganesh, the Hindu god with the elephant head. Ganesh stands for change, takes away obstacles and is the deity of knowledge and wisdom. Sri Ganesh is called upon when starting something new and is the protector of travellers.
Ideal for travellers on the yoga path! However, yoga is not affiliated with any religion, that is why I didn't want a religious name.
With Yoga Hathi I refer to Ganesh.
